Dhordo Village, Gujarat, Celebrates Global Recognition as One of UNWTO’s Best Tourism Village

Gujarat: Dhordo village in the Kutch district of Gujarat has gained global recognition as one of the Best Tourism Villages awarded by the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO). The announcement was made on October 19, 2023, during the UNWTO General Assembly in Samarkand, Uzbekistan.

Dhordo village is located on the edge of the Great Rann of Kutch, one of the largest salt deserts in the world. The village is known for its annual Rann Utsav festival, which showcases the region’s rich culture and heritage. Dhordo also offers a variety of other tourist attractions, including camel safaris, cultural performances, and traditional handicrafts.

In addition to its tourism offerings, Dhordo village is also a model of sustainable development. The village has implemented a number of initiatives to reduce its environmental impact, such as using solar energy and rainwater harvesting.
