Gandhi Jayanti 2023: Remembering the Father of the Nation.

India came together to celebrate the 154th Gandhi Jayanti, paying heartfelt tributes to Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the Nation. President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the nation in offering flowers at Rajghat in the heart of the capital.

As the morning sun lit up the memorial, Prime Minister Modi bowed before the eternal flame, embracing the spirit of Gandhi’s teachings. He also shared his respect on social media, reminding everyone of Gandhi’s global influence, inspiring unity and compassion worldwide.

“I salute Mahatma Gandhi on this special Gandhi Jayanti. His teachings continue to guide us. Let’s work to fulfill his dreams. May his ideas empower young people to bring unity and harmony everywhere,” Prime Minister Modi said.

The spirit of this significant day spread across the country, with Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge paying their respects at Rajghat. Kharge beautifully summed up Gandhi’s essence, saying, “Gandhi is not just a person, but an idea and the moral compass of our nation. His values of truth, non-violence, freedom, equality, and coexistence are timeless. We bow to Bapu’s ideals on his Jayanti.”

The official Congress handle echoed these sentiments, paying tribute to Gandhi’s dedication to India’s freedom and emphasizing the importance of his values. “On Gandhi Jayanti, we pay tribute to the Mahatma, whose dedication to freedom won India’s independence. Let’s pledge to keep his values of peace, unity, and non-violence alive, guiding our nation.”

Even beyond the capital, Gandhi’s legacy was felt, with Jharkhand Governor CP Radhakrishnan, Chief Minister Hemant Soren, and JMM leader Mahua Manjhi paying their respects in Ranchi, highlighting the universality of his teachings.

Gandhi Jayanti not only marks his birth anniversary but also stands as a global reminder of non-violence and tolerance. The International Day of Non-Violence celebrated on this day honors Gandhi’s enduring impact, inspiring nations and individuals toward unity, compassion, and a more peaceful world.
