Probationers of the Indian Forest Service (2022 batch) and Officers/Officer Trainees of the Indian Defence Estates Service (2018 and 2022 batch) recently met with President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan. 

Probationers of the Indian Forest Service (2022 batch) and Officers/Officer Trainees of the Indian Defence Estates Service (2018 and 2022 batch) had the opportunity to meet with President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan on July 24, 2023. During the meeting, the President addressed the officers and highlighted the importance of their roles as civil servants in a time when India is acquiring a leadership role at the global level.The President emphasized the need for eco-friendly and sustainable services and facilities provided by the Indian Defence Estates Service officers. She encouraged the officers to keep updating their technical skills along with domain expertise, as technology is a great enabler for good governance. The President also emphasized the importance of utilizing technology to the maximum possible extent for effective administration of the cantonments and management of defence lands.

Addressing the probationers of the Indian Forest Service, the President highlighted the close connection between India’s climate and topography and its forest distribution. She emphasized the importance of forests and the wildlife that they support as invaluable resources and heritage of the country. The President also stated that environmental conservation has become a key concern for the 21st century, and Indian Forest Service officers are among the solution-providers. She urged the probationers to put in untiring efforts for the practical implementation of the “LiFE – Lifestyle for Environment” mantra, which India has given to the world. Overall, the meeting between the probationers of the Indian Forest Service, Officers/Officer Trainees of the Indian Defence Estates Service, and the President was an opportunity for the officers to gain insights and guidance from the President, showcase their work and achievements, and discuss matters related to their respective services.
