Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated the new International Airport in Rajkot, Gujarat, on July 27, 2023, in the presence of the CM of Gujarat, Shri Bhupendra Rajnikant Patel, the Union Minister of Civil Aviation, Shri Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, and other VIPs. The new airport is a significant step towards bolstering the nation’s aviation infrastructure and enhancing connectivity in the region. The existing airport in Rajkot is capacity-constrained due to dense residential and commercial development all around it and does not have any scope for further expansion to meet Civil Aviation requirements.

Therefore, a new Greenfield airport at Hirasar, Rajkot was proposed and entrusted to the Airports Authority of India. The new Terminal building and the airside infrastructures are developed in a total land area of 2534 acres and at a cost of Rs.1405 Cr. This notable development includes the construction of Runway, Apron, and Parallel Taxi Track. The new Terminal building sprawls across an area of 23,000 square meters and can serve up to 2800 passengers during peak hours. The terminal is equipped with 20 check-in counters and 5 conveyor belts. The runway is 3040 meters in length and 45 meters in width.

The airport’s apron measures 334 meters by 152 meters and can accommodate a fleet of Ten (10) Code-C type and Four (4) Code-B type aircraft simultaneously. The airport has developed a big parking area with a capacity to accommodate 300 cars and 75 two-wheelers. In his address, Shri Jyotiraditya M Scindia said that this airport was envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi around seven years ago. The new airport is ten times larger than the existing airport in Rajkot, and a new terminal building is also being constructed there, the capacity to serve more than 1800 passengers per hour.

The art and culture of Rajkot will be depicted in this new terminal building. In 2014, there were only 56 flight movements per week from Rajkot, which has now more than doubled to 130 flights per week. Currently, Rajkot has air connectivity with Mumbai, Delhi, Pune, Goa, and Bengaluru. In the coming weeks, Rajkot will be connected with Udaipur and Indore as well. In 2014, Gujarat had connectivity with only 19 cities; today, it is connected to 50 cities.

The Hirasar Greenfield Airport has been meticulously planned and developed to meet the burgeoning demands of the aviation industry. To cater to the discerning traveler’s needs, the airport boasts ample space for commercial activities. Furthermore, the design adheres to the Sugamya Bharat Abhiyan norms, ensuring accessibility for all passengers, with the incorporation of tactile paths to enhance the experience of differently-abled individuals. The presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister of Civil Aviation Shri Jyotiraditya Scindia at the inauguration ceremony underscores the government’s commitment to enhancing India’s aviation sector and bolstering its position on the global aviation map.

The Prime Minister welcomed the dignitaries to Chennai and highlighted the city’s rich culture and history. He also encouraged them to visit Mamallapuram, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its inspiring stone carvings and natural beauty.

Quoting the ancient poet Thiruvalluvar, the Prime Minister emphasized the importance of giving back to nature. He stressed that protecting and caring for Mother Earth is our fundamental responsibility and called it ‘Climate Action’. He also mentioned India’s traditional knowledge and the concept of ‘Antyodaya’, which means ensuring the development of the last person in society.

The Prime Minister acknowledged that countries in the Global South are particularly affected by climate change and environmental issues. He urged enhanced action on commitments under the UN Climate Convention and the Paris Agreement to help fulfill the developmental aspirations of the Global South in a climate-friendly way.

Shri Modi expressed pride in India’s ambitious ‘Nationally Determined Contributions’ and its achievements in renewable energy. He mentioned that India has achieved its installed electric capacity from non-fossil fuel sources ahead of target and set a new goal of attaining ‘Net Zero’ by 2070. The Prime Minister highlighted India’s collaborations with international alliances such as the International Solar Alliance, CDRI, and the Leadership Group for Industry Transition.

The Prime Minister emphasized India’s efforts in biodiversity conservation, restoration, and enrichment. He mentioned initiatives like the Gandhinagar Implementation Roadmap and Platform for restoring priority landscapes impacted by forest fires and mining. He also highlighted the recently launched International Big Cat Alliance and credited the success of Project Tiger in increasing India’s tiger population. The Prime Minister mentioned ongoing work on Project Lion and Project Dolphin.

Shri Modi highlighted India’s initiatives driven by people’s participation. He mentioned the Mission Amrit Sarovar water conservation initiative, which has developed over 63,000 water bodies in just one year through community participation and technology. He also mentioned the Catch the Rain campaign, which has led to the construction of over 280,000 water harvesting structures. The Prime Minister discussed the success of community participation in the Namami Gange Mission, resulting in the reappearance of the Gangetic Dolphin in many parts of the river. He also mentioned India’s large network of Ramsar sites for wetland conservation.

The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of responsible use and management of oceanic resources, particularly for Small Island States. He highlighted that oceans are not only crucial economic resources but also support the livelihoods of billions of people worldwide and are home to extensive biodiversity.

In conclusion, the Prime Minister’s address focused on India’s commitment to climate action, renewable energy, biodiversity conservation, and responsible use of natural resources. He called for enhanced global cooperation to address climate change and environmental challenges.

Director of the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Jammu, Professor B.S. Sahay, recently spoke about the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and its emphasis on creating a holistic learning environment. Speaking at a press conference on the ‘Strategic Action Plan for Implementing NEP 2020’ at the IIM old campus in Jammu, Professor Sahay highlighted that the NEP 2020 aims to address many growing developmental imperatives of India.

Under the NEP 2020, students are given increased flexibility and choice of subjects to study, creating well-rounded individuals equipped with 21st-century skills. The policy will create a new system aligned with the aspirational goals of 21st-century education and is laying particular emphasis on the development of the creative potential of each individual.

Professor Sahay also highlighted that Jammu is the only region in India with three prestigious institutions located there, which have been able to start inter-institutional connections in different fields with the inception of NEP 2020. These include the Dual Degree Program (B.Tech. and MBA) with IIT Jammu, MBA in Healthcare and Health Administration with AIIMS Jammu and IIT Jammu, and Executive MBA in Corporate Affairs and Management with the Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs, Gurugram. Director of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Jammu, Prof. Manoj Singh Gaur, also spoke about the NEP 2020 and its comprehensive approach to making education holistic, affordable, accessible, and equitable for all. He highlighted that any B.Tech student who has completed six semesters can join IIT Jammu for the final two semesters after meeting the requisite qualification criteria.

This will take place through NCRF’s Academic Bank Criteria of Academic Bank of Credit (ABC), which is a digital or virtual or online store-house of academic credit database of Higher Education Institution promoting Learner-Centric Education via Seamless Mobility of Learners. Overall, the NEP 2020 aims to create a new system of education that is aligned with the aspirational goals of 21st-century education and emphasizes the development of the creative potential of each individual. Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Shri Amit Shah will launch a unique action ‘Mera Gaon Meri Dharohar’ as part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav hereafter. It’s a pan-India action of Ministry of Culture under National Mission on Cultural Mapping. Shri Amit Shah will officially launch the virtual platform during a grand protuberance mapping show at the Qutub Minar by 7 pm onwards on 27th July 2023.
The Ministry of Culture initiated ‘Mera Gaon Meri Dharohar ’( MGMD) design under National Mission on Cultural Mapping in collaboration with Indira Gandhi National Centre for the trades( IGNCA).

The main ideal the design is to culturally collude India’s6.5 lakh townlets, gauging 29 States and 7 Union homes, on a comprehensive virtual platform. Through MGMD, people will get an occasion to immerse themselves in the different and vibrant artistic heritage of India. On July 24, 2023, both Houses of Parliament in India witnessed demurrers from opposition parties for the successive third day over the issue of Manipur violence. The Lok Sabha & the Rajya Sabha were laid over for the day. In the Lok Sabha, when the House met after the third adjournment at2.30 PM, members of opposition parties including Congress, DMK, and JD( U) again trooped into the well, raising taglines demanding Prime Minister’s statement in the House over Manipur violence. Union Home Minister Amit Shah said when the government is prepared for the discussion on the matter, he’s not suitable to understand why the opposition parties aren’t allowing discussion. Speaker Om Birla said, the opposition mustn’t sway from tradition as it’s the concerned minister who responds to the applicable issue in the House. He said, dismembering the proceedings is against the interest of the country. As Tophet continued, the Speaker suspended the House for the day.

Before in the morning, when the House met for the day, members of opposition parties trooped into the well, raising taglines. Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury of Congress said, Manipur violence is a veritably critical issue and it should be taken up incontinently. The Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi replied, the government is ready for discussion on this current issue. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh contended the opposition of not being serious on the issue. Amid Tophet, the Speaker tried to run the Question Hour but in vain. In thepre-lunch session, three bills were introduced in the House amid noise. Analogous scenes were witnessed in the Rajya Sabha. When the House met after the third adjournment at 3 PM, the suspended Aam Aadmi Party Sanjay Singh refused to leave the House. Deputy Chairman Harivansh continually asked him to leave the House butMr. Singh refused. Latterly the House was laid over for the day. In the morning, recently tagged Rajya Sabha MP of Trinamool Congress Saket Gokhale from West Bengal took the pledge and protestation.

She emphasized the importance of forests and the wildlife that they support as invaluable resources and heritage of the country. The President also stated that environmental conservation has become a key concern for the 21st century, and Indian Forest Service officers are among the solution-providers. She urged the probationers to put in untiring efforts for the practical implementation of the “LiFE – Lifestyle for Environment” mantra, which India has given to the world. Overall, the meeting between the probationers of the Indian Forest Service, Officers/Officer Trainees of the Indian Defence Estates Service, and the President was an opportunity for the officers to gain insights and guidance from the President, showcase their work and achievements, and discuss matters related to their respective services.
