A Quick leap towards modernizing India’s transportation network, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurates the eagerly anticipated Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) Corridor. The Sahibabad RapidX Station served as the stage for this significant event, marking a progress in India’s connectivity landscape.
The Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut corridor assures to be a game-changer, presenting a swift commute with a travel time of less than an hour. It is connecting bustling urban hubs like Ghaziabad, Muradnagar, and Modinagar, all flawlessly linked through this transport network.
‘Namo Bharat’ Unveiled
Prime Minister also flagged off the first RapidX train, which now chugs its way from Sahibabad to Duhai Depot. This move officially inaugurated the Regional Rapid Transit System in India.
The Power of Names
Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri aptly named these ‘Namo Bharat.’ This nomenclature not only carries the spirit of our nation but also symbolizes the rapid step at which our transportation system is evolving.
A German Touch
What makes this project even more intriguing is the German connection. The German Ambassador to India, Philipp Ackermann, graced the launch, emphasizing the prowess of this marvel. Operated by a German rail company, Deutsche Bahn, this RRTS shuttle train boasts a remarkable speed of 160 km/hr, making it the fastest in India.

The Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS Corridor is just the beginning. With a design speed of 180 kilometers per hour, it promises high-speed intercity commuting with trains arriving every 15 minutes, and the flexibility to increase the frequency to as little as every 5 minutes when demand calls for it.
Connecting India, One RRTS Corridor at a Time
India has identified a total of eight RRTS corridors for development in the National Capital Region. Three of these, including the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Corridor, have been prioritized for implementation in Phase I.
Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS Corridor represents a significant stride towards a future where time and distance are no longer barriers to connectivity. It’s a name etched in the fast lane of progress, and ‘Namo Bharat’ is leading the charge.
