In a big move towards solar energy, the Adani Group plans to increase its solar manufacturing by 2.5 times, reaching 10 gigawatts (GW) by 2027. Right now, they have 4 GW of solar manufacturing capacity. To fund this growth, they’ve recently raised an impressive $394 million with the help of Barclays PLC and Deutsche Banks AG.

Adani Solar, part of the Adani Group, already has orders for over 3,000 megawatts (MW) of solar exports to fulfill in the next 15 months. This boost could significantly boost India’s solar energy production, which has already grown from 2.63 GW in 2014 to 71.10 GW in 2023. However, a lack of strong manufacturing capabilities had been a hurdle.

To tackle this issue, the Indian government introduced measures like safeguard duties, an approved list of module manufacturers, and production-linked incentives, encouraging companies like Adani to invest more in solar manufacturing.

Adani’s journey into solar manufacturing began in 2015 with Adani Solar, following their success in conventional energy through Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL). In just six years, they’ve grown from a 1.2 GW capacity to 4 GW for both solar cells and modules.

Adani Solar operates India’s biggest solar capacity for cells and modules in the Mundra Special Economic Zone. They’ve sold over 7 GW of modules and are now among the top three solar module suppliers in India, as per Mercom’s India Solar Market Leaderboard for 2023.

Adani’s expansion in solar manufacturing is not only significant for their group but also for India’s clean energy future. Their commitment to green innovation shines a bright light on the future of solar energy in India.

India came together to celebrate the 154th Gandhi Jayanti, paying heartfelt tributes to Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the Nation. President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the nation in offering flowers at Rajghat in the heart of the capital.

As the morning sun lit up the memorial, Prime Minister Modi bowed before the eternal flame, embracing the spirit of Gandhi’s teachings. He also shared his respect on social media, reminding everyone of Gandhi’s global influence, inspiring unity and compassion worldwide.

“I salute Mahatma Gandhi on this special Gandhi Jayanti. His teachings continue to guide us. Let’s work to fulfill his dreams. May his ideas empower young people to bring unity and harmony everywhere,” Prime Minister Modi said.

The spirit of this significant day spread across the country, with Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge paying their respects at Rajghat. Kharge beautifully summed up Gandhi’s essence, saying, “Gandhi is not just a person, but an idea and the moral compass of our nation. His values of truth, non-violence, freedom, equality, and coexistence are timeless. We bow to Bapu’s ideals on his Jayanti.”

The official Congress handle echoed these sentiments, paying tribute to Gandhi’s dedication to India’s freedom and emphasizing the importance of his values. “On Gandhi Jayanti, we pay tribute to the Mahatma, whose dedication to freedom won India’s independence. Let’s pledge to keep his values of peace, unity, and non-violence alive, guiding our nation.”

Even beyond the capital, Gandhi’s legacy was felt, with Jharkhand Governor CP Radhakrishnan, Chief Minister Hemant Soren, and JMM leader Mahua Manjhi paying their respects in Ranchi, highlighting the universality of his teachings.

Gandhi Jayanti not only marks his birth anniversary but also stands as a global reminder of non-violence and tolerance. The International Day of Non-Violence celebrated on this day honors Gandhi’s enduring impact, inspiring nations and individuals toward unity, compassion, and a more peaceful world.

In a recent interview, X’s CEO, Linda Yaccarino, shared that the platform, previously known as Twitter, has lost a lot of daily users since Elon Musk became the boss. This is a big deal in the world of social media.

Linda Yaccarino said that X has gone from having 254.5 million people using it every day to only 225 million since Musk took charge. That’s a drop of about 11.6 percent, which means fewer people are using X these days.

She also pointed out that when compared to last year, there’s been a drop of around 3.7 percent, which equals nearly 15 million users saying goodbye to X. This shows that X is having some trouble keeping its users interested under Musk’s leadership.

But it’s not all bad news. Yaccarino mentioned that 90 percent of the top 100 advertisers are back on X, which means companies still like to advertise there even though fewer people are using it.

Linda Yaccarino has only been the CEO of X for a short time, so these numbers might change as she and her team work to make X better.

This drop in daily users comes after Elon Musk’s tweets last year, where he said Twitter had 254.5 million daily users just before he took over. Later, X said it was actually 245 million. Now, Yaccarino says it’s down to 225 million.

X does have 550 million people using it every month, but we’re not sure if that number has gone up or down since Musk became the boss.

X is trying to make money by 2024, so losing daily users is a big challenge. They’ll need to come up with new ideas to get more people to use X and keep it going in the fast-changing world of the internet.

This shows that the tech world is always changing, and even big names like Elon Musk can’t predict exactly what will happen when they take charge of a major platform like X.

In a rare display of bipartisan cooperation, the United States Congress has successfully passed a ‘stopgap funding bill’ to avert a potentially damaging government shutdown. With just hours to spare before federal agencies were set to run out of funding, the Republican-controlled House of Representatives voted overwhelmingly in favour of the 45-day stopgap measure, with a final tally of 335-91, according to AFP reports.

The passage of this bill, however, has not come without political repercussions. Kevin McCarthy, the top Republican in the House, now finds himself facing a challenge to his role as speaker. Some party hardliners within his own caucus have expressed their dissatisfaction, claiming that the stopgap bill represents a victory for the so-called “Uniparty” of Washington, as reported by Reuters.

Republican Representative Andy Biggs, a prominent hardliner, openly questioned McCarthy’s fitness to remain as Speaker of the House on the social platform X, formerly known as Twitter. McCarthy’s decision to bring a measure to the floor that could garner Democratic support has, in essence, put his own leadership position at risk.

Amid this internal turmoil, there is a possibility of Democratic support for McCarthy in the event of an ouster attempt. Some Democrats have suggested that they could back a moderate Republican willing to share power within House committees. However, there are also those within the Democratic camp who remain steadfast in their support for House Democratic leader Hakeem Jeffries.

The spectre of a government shutdown loomed large, arriving at a precarious moment for President Biden. With already low poll numbers and concerns about the economy, the President is seeking a second term in office, emphasizing his ability to provide steady leadership in Washington. When questioned about whether President Biden should bear any responsibility for a potential shutdown, White House budget director Shalanda Young adamantly rejected any such notion, accusing Republicans of being indifferent to the well-being of ordinary citizens, as reported by AP.

The current crisis stems from a previous standoff earlier in the year over raising the debt limit. While the stopgap funding bill has averted an immediate government shutdown, it underscores the ongoing challenges and political divisions in the United States legislative landscape.

These sites encompass public areas, educational institutions, government offices, and residential neighborhoods.

Participants, armed with brooms and a commitment to cleanliness, have come forward to clean and rejuvenate their surroundings, ensuring a clean environment for the Gandhi Jayanti celebrations. The ‘Ek Tareekh, Ek Ghanta, Ek Saath’ campaign emphasizes the pivotal role cleanliness plays in securing a healthier and more sustainable future for India.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his appeal, highlighted the importance of individual and collective efforts in maintaining a clean environment and preventing pollution. The campaign serves as a reflection of Mahatma Gandhi’s timeless teachings, fostering unity and shared responsibility among citizens to work towards a cleaner and more prosperous India.

As India commemorates the 153rd birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi on October 2, this initiative stands as a testament to his enduring legacy. It underscores the unwavering commitment of the Indian populace to realize Gandhi’s dream of a Swachh Bharat.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched a week-long program called ‘Sankalp Saptaah’ aimed at improving the lives of people in aspirational blocks across India. The program focuses on efficient resource utilization, convergence, and public participation for grassroots development.

During the launch at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, Prime Minister Modi emphasized the significance of optimizing resources, stating that budgets alone cannot drive change, and efficient use of existing resources is equally crucial.

‘Sankalp Saptaah’ aligns with the Aspirational Blocks Programme (ABP) initiated by the Prime Minister in January. It aims to enhance governance at the block level, ultimately improving citizens’ quality of life.

To support the ABP’s successful implementation and develop robust strategies, ‘chintan shivirs’ (reflection workshops) were conducted at village and block levels nationwide. ‘Sankalp Saptaah’ represents the culmination of these deliberations and will be observed in all 500 aspirational blocks.

Throughout ‘Sankalp Saptaah,’ each day from October 3 to October 9 focuses on a specific development theme that all aspirational blocks will work on. These themes include ‘Sampoorna Swasthya’ (comprehensive health), ‘Suposhit Pariwaar’ (well-nourished families), ‘Swachhta’ (cleanliness), ‘Krishi’ (agriculture), ‘Shiksha’ (education), and ‘Samridhi Diwas’ (prosperity day).

The program’s final day, October 9, will celebrate the week’s achievements and efforts during ‘Sankalp Saptaah – Samavesh Samaroh.’ The inaugural event at Bharat Mandapam witnessed the participation of around 3,000 panchayat and block-level representatives and approximately two lakh people, including block and panchayat functionaries, farmers, and individuals from various backgrounds, who joined virtually.

Introduction:

As the spectre of a US government shutdown looms, the world holds its breath. This isn’t just a domestic showdown; it’s a global game-changer. Let’s dive into how a government shutdown could make waves in foreign policy, shaking the very foundations of diplomacy, international relations, and national security.

Shutdown Shockwaves:

Picture this: key players in foreign policy and national security, are furloughed or working without pay. Chaos, right? A shutdown would disrupt vital work, stalling US foreign policy initiatives and weakening the nation’s global impact.

Global Reputation on the Line:

In an era of global diplomacy, credibility is everything. With the Biden administration rallying allies to counter China, a shutdown could bruise America’s reputation. Can the US lead when it can’t keep its own lights on?

Diplomatic Dilemmas:

Embassies and consulates worldwide stay open, but key activities like official travel and speeches might take a hit. Diplomatic engagements, essential for global stability, could be thrown off course.

Aid in Jeopardy:

Foreign aid programs hang in the balance. Health initiatives tackling malaria, tuberculosis, and HIV-AIDS could see delays. Security assistance might stumble when it’s needed most.

Local Staff Legal Limbo:

The Department of State pledges to pay local staff, but it’s not that simple. Local employment laws often ban furloughs or unpaid work. Legal battles might add chaos to the mix.

Military Continues, Civilians Suffer:

The military soldiers on, but nearly half of the Pentagon’s civilian workforce could face furloughs. Efficiency takes a hit, and it’s a tough blow for these dedicated workers.

Conclusion:

A US government shutdown isn’t just a bureaucratic headache; it’s a diplomatic earthquake. It could shake America’s global role, leaving allies and rivals wondering: can the US lead when it can’t even fund itself?
