Falu and Gaurav’s track “Abundance in Millets,” featuring PM Narendra Modi, has surprisingly secured a nomination at the 2024 Grammy Awards in the Best Global Music Performance category. The song delves into the significance of millets in the country’s progress. Created by Falu & Gaurav Shah, the track competes with formidable nominees like Arooj Aftab, Vijay Iyer & Shahzad Ismaily’s “Shadow Forces,” Burna Boy’s “Alone,” Davido’s “Feel,” Silvana Estrada’s “Milagro Y Disastre,” Béla Fleck, Edgar Meyer & Zakir Hussain ft. Rakesh Chaurasia’s “Pashto,” and Ibrahim Maalouf ft. Cimafunk & Tank and the Bangas’ “Todo Colores.”

The creation of “Abundance in Millets” coincided with the celebration of the ‘International Year of the Millets.’ As mentioned on Falu’s website, the Indian government proposed the initiative, recognizing India’s status as one of the largest producers of this supergrain. The proposal garnered support from 72 countries and the United Nations General Assembly.

Describing the song’s intent and highlighting the importance of millets, the website states, “Millets are small-grained, warm-weather cereals cultivated mainly in India, and they played a significant role as staples for centuries. However, they gradually took a backseat and faced marginalization post the green revolution when the focus shifted to increased food grain production using high-yielding varieties of wheat and rice. ‘Abundance in Millets’ was created to raise awareness about this supergrain, positioning it as a potential key to alleviating world hunger.”

This momentous event underscores the flourishing cooperation between the two nations and signifies the remarkable progress achieved in recent years.

The three projects inaugurated are the Akhaura-Agartala Cross-Border Rail Link, the Khulna-Mongla Port Rail Line, and Unit-II of the Maitree Super Thermal Power Plant in Rampal, Bangladesh. These endeavors represent not only infrastructural development but also the strengthening of friendship and collaboration between India and Bangladesh.

Prime Minister Modi noted, “Our relations are reaching new heights continuously. The work we have done together in the last 9 years was not done even in the decades before this.” This sentiment reflects the commitment of both nations to elevate their partnership to unprecedented levels.

The Projects That Foster Unity and Progress

The rail link, with a length of 12.24 km, features a 6.78 km Dual Gauge rail line in Bangladesh and 5.46 km in Tripura, bringing the two regions closer.

Leaders Pay Tribute to the Architect of Indian Unity

On the occasion of National Unity Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, President Droupadi Murmu, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and a host of notables paid heartfelt tributes to the “Iron Man of India,” Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, on his 148th birth anniversary. This day, observed on October 31, marks a celebration of the unparalleled legacy of Sardar Patel, who played a pivotal role in uniting the diverse princely states into the modern nation of India.

Modi’s Homage and Tribute at the Statue of Unity

Prime Minister Modi, currently in his home state of Gujarat, took a moment to reflect on the visionary statesmanship and unwavering dedication of Sardar Patel, who, through a blend of persuasion and firmness, wove together a nation that was a tapestry of princely territories. In his message, the Prime Minister said, “On the Jayanti of Sardar Patel, we remember his indomitable spirit, visionary statesmanship, and the extraordinary dedication with which he shaped the destiny of our nation. His commitment to national integration continues to guide us. We are forever indebted to his service.” Modi further honored Sardar Patel by laying floral wreaths at the imposing Statue of Unity, the world’s tallest statue dedicated to the great leader.

Sardar Patel: Architect of Unity and Nationalist Leader

Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, born into a landowning family in Gujarat in 1875, was an eminent lawyer and a prominent Congress leader during the struggle for India’s independence. His role as the first home minister of independent India was pivotal in bringing together over 565 self-governing princely states into a unified India. His relentless pursuit of national integration earned him the revered title “Iron Man of India.”

Celebrating National Unity Day: Honoring the Unifier

The significance of October 31 as National Unity Day is rooted in its recognition of Sardar Patel’s remarkable feat of persuading princely states to join the Indian Union. As the Central government declared, this day serves as an opportunity to reaffirm India’s strength and resilience in the face of challenges to its unity, integrity, and security.

Sardar Patel’s Early Years: Education, Law, and Satyagraha

Sardar Patel’s legacy goes beyond his political achievements. His early years were marked by a strong commitment to education and law. He ventured to London for legal studies and returned to India as a distinguished barrister in criminal law. His association with Mahatma Gandhi and the principles of satyagraha reshaped his life, leading him to become a nationalist leader.

The Leader Emerges: Bardoli and Mass Campaigns

In 1918, Sardar Patel’s leadership emerged during the Kaira mass campaigns against the Bombay government’s attempt to collect full annual revenue taxes despite crop failures. He later led the Bardoli landowners’ resistance in 1928, earning him the title ‘Sardar’ or leader, and cementing his status as a national figure.

Post-Independence Achievements and Legacy

Post-independence, Sardar Patel’s contributions were multifaceted. He served as deputy prime minister, minister of home affairs, minister of information, and minister of states, but his most enduring legacy is the seamless integration of princely Indian states into the Indian Union and the unification of India.

Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s life of dedication to his country culminated on December 15, 1950, when he passed away in Bombay after suffering a massive heart attack. His legacy lives on, celebrated on National Unity Day as India continues to draw inspiration from his vision of unity and integrity.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi took a playful jab at the Congress party during a telecom event in Delhi. He drew an amusing analogy between the Indian political landscape in 2014 and outdated mobile phones, invoking laughter from the audience.

“Outdated Phones” and Political Change

PM Modi humorously recalled how, just like outdated phones that refused to restart or respond, the country chose to leave behind the past and usher in a wave of change in 2014. It was a pivotal year, marking his first term as Prime Minister, where the BJP secured a landslide victory in the Lok Sabha Elections.

The Prime Minister emphasized that 2014 wasn’t merely a date; it symbolized a profound transformation—a “badlav” (change). He drew a parallel between the frozen screens of outdated phones and the state of the previous government, suggesting that both were in a ‘frozen’ state.

India’s Tech Resurgence

During his address at the ‘India Mobile Congress,’ PM Modi showcased India’s growing significance in the global tech landscape. He highlighted how major tech giants, including Apple and Google, are making substantial investments in manufacturing in India. “Recently, Google has announced the manufacturing of its Pixel phone in India. Samsung’s Fold 5 mobile phone and Apple’s iPhone 15 are being manufactured in India,” he proudly revealed.

PM Modi also celebrated India’s remarkable progress in mobile broadband speed, which has seen the country ascend to the 43rd position from a previous rank of 11. He stressed that his government’s top priorities include providing citizens with access to capital, resources, and technology.

Leading the Way in Tech Innovation

The Prime Minister shared his vision of a world where ‘made in India’ phones are ubiquitous. Beyond the expansion of 5G technology, he unveiled India’s ambition to become a global leader in 6G technology. PM Modi’s address illustrated India’s growing influence in the tech realm, positioning the nation as a hub of innovation and technological advancement.

In his unique and engaging style, PM Modi conveyed the profound changes and progress that have defined his tenure, leaving the audience both entertained and inspired.

The foundation stone for the Ram temple is marked as a pivotal moment in the history of Ayodhya, signifying the resolution of a longstanding dispute. Now, Muslims in Ayodhya are expressing a similar hope for constructing the Babri Masjid.

Their request is symbolic of the desire for communal harmony and coexistence. It reflects the aspiration to move forward, leaving behind the wounds of the past, and embracing a future where people of different faiths can live together in peace.

The Spirit of Ayodhya

Ayodhya, the sacred city that embodies the ideals of Lord Ram, is poised to witness another momentous chapter in its rich history. The forthcoming events symbolize the city’s commitment to tolerance, acceptance, and the cohabitation of diverse cultures.
