New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate three significant infrastructure projects worth over Rs 4,000 crore at a ceremony on January 17, 2024, in Kochi, Kerala. The unveiling will take place at the Wellingdon Island and will include the New Dry Dock Facility at the Cochin Shipyard, the International Ship Repair facility at Wellingdon Island, and the Indian Oil Corporation’s LPG Import Terminal at Puthuvypeen.

The New Dry Dock facility, constructed at a cost of Rs 1,799 crore, stands as the country’s largest dry dock. Capable of accommodating LNG Carriers, large vessels, and oil rigs, it features a dual purpose, equipped with a 600-tonne gantry crane for ship construction and repairs. Eliminating dependency on foreign countries, this facility is set to play a pivotal role in constructing and repairing large and specialized ships and marine structures.

The International Ship Repair facility at Wellingdon Island, built at a cost of Rs 970 crore, is designed with six workstations, allowing simultaneous repair of six vessels. This facility positions the nation as a major ship repair center and contributes significantly to enhancing the ship repair capacity of the country, establishing Kochi as a key hub in this domain.

2024 US Presidential Elections: Vivek Ramaswamy has decided to withdraw his bid for the Republican presidential nomination. The 38-year-old entrepreneur threw his support behind former President Donald Trump after a disappointing performance in Iowa.

Ramaswamy, who previously referred to Trump as the “best president of the 21st century,” suspended his campaign following a lackluster outcome in Iowa. He urged Republican voters to consider “fresh legs” and take the “America First agenda to the next level.”

Trump, despite legal challenges, secured a decisive victory in the Iowa contest, reinforcing his influence within the party. Ramaswamy mirrored Trump’s populist approach, campaigning as a dynamic figure with a penchant for grabbing headlines.

Expressing gratitude on social media platform Truth Social, Trump exclaimed, “THANK YOU IOWA, I LOVE YOU ALL!!!” Ramaswamy, acknowledging the setback in his campaign, conveyed, “There is no path for me to be the next president.”

In a show of unity, Ramaswamy endorsed Trump for the presidency, recognizing him as a fellow “America First” candidate. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis trailed in second place, narrowly surpassing former UN Ambassador Nikki Haley in the bid to emerge as the primary alternative to Trump.

With nearly 90% of the expected votes counted, Trump held a commanding lead at 50.9%, with DeSantis at 21.4% and Haley at 19.0%, according to Edison Research. While it remains uncertain if Trump will surpass the psychological 50% mark, his challengers aim for a strong showing to sustain their campaigns.

Trump’s strategic campaign approach, characterized by his absence from debates and limited local engagements, aims to cultivate an air of inevitability around his nomination bid. As the race unfolds, Trump seeks to solidify his position and secure a rematch with Democratic President Joe Biden in November.

Donald Trump Secures Iowa Caucus Victory, Firming Grip as Leading Republican Contender for Presidential Showdown with Joe Biden

In a decisive triumph on Monday, Donald Trump claimed victory in Iowa’s caucuses, marking the initial ballot in the US presidential race and solidifying his position as the likely Republican nominee to challenge President Joe Biden in the upcoming November election. Despite facing legal challenges, the former president’s overwhelming support in Iowa suggests that he has successfully turned his legal issues into a rallying point, galvanizing his followers.

Although Trump has consistently led in polls for over a year, the Iowa caucus was viewed as a crucial indicator of his ability to translate this advantage into a formidable return to the White House. Within just half an hour of the polls opening, major US networks projected Trump as the winner, securing nearly three-quarters of the early vote.

Questions lingered regarding the impact of Trump’s legal troubles, including multiple civil and criminal trials across various jurisdictions. However, the Iowa victory implies that the 77-year-old, who left office amid the fallout from the 2021 Capitol assault, has successfully transformed these legal challenges into a rallying cry for his supporters.

As the opening vote in the primary season, Iowa plays a pivotal role in narrowing the field and providing a launchpad for contenders in the subsequent race. Trump’s commanding lead as he heads into New Hampshire in eight days suggests that his rivals have been unable to diminish his momentum.

Despite the challenging weather conditions, Iowa residents turned out to more than 1,600 voting locations, with Trump’s victory declared early in the voting process. The margin of his win over closest rivals, former UN ambassador Nikki Haley and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, remains uncertain, but it could surpass the 12-point win considered a successful outcome by Trump’s aides.

While Iowa contributes less than two percent of the nationwide delegates in the candidate selection process, a strong performance is crucial for candidates seeking momentum before facing subsequent primaries in New Hampshire, Nevada, and South Carolina. The Trump campaign, better organized than in 2016, showcased its ground presence throughout the state, underscoring the former reality TV star’s determination to secure victory this time around.

To Enhance user experience and streamline accessibility, Microsoft is currently testing a feature in Windows 11 that would automatically launch its AI-powered Copilot when the operating system starts, particularly on widescreen devices. This development was shared as part of the latest Dev Channel preview of Windows 11, allowing testers to provide valuable feedback before the feature’s widespread release.

While Microsoft hasn’t precisely defined what qualifies as a “widescreen” device, it alludes to the launch of Copilot “when you’re using a wider screen.” This terminology could encompass ultrawide displays, indicating a move towards optimizing the Copilot experience for users with expansive screens.

Microsoft clarified that the initial testing phase targets devices with a minimum diagonal screen size of 27 inches, a pixel width of 1920 pixels, and is limited to primary display screens in multi-monitor setups. This careful selection aims to ensure a smooth and effective rollout.

Notably, Microsoft has introduced a dedicated Copilot key on Windows PC keyboards, intended to simplify the engagement with the Copilot in Windows experience. This key, alongside the traditional Windows key, becomes an integral part of PC keyboards. When activated, the Copilot key seamlessly invokes the Copilot in Windows experience, providing users with a convenient and efficient means of incorporating Copilot into their daily routines.

Yusuf Mehdi, Executive Vice President and Consumer Chief Marketing Officer at Microsoft, highlighted the significance of this development, stating in a blog post, “The Copilot key joins the Windows key as a core part of the PC keyboard, and when pressed, the new key will invoke the Copilot in Windows experience to make it seamless to engage Copilot in your day-to-day.”

As Microsoft continues to innovate and refine its offerings, this move underscores the company’s commitment to providing users with intuitive and integrated tools that seamlessly adapt to their computing needs. The introduction of a dedicated Copilot key and the automatic launch feature aligns with Microsoft’s broader strategy to enhance accessibility and user-friendly interactions within the Windows ecosystem.

New Delhi: In a profound revelation, veteran Bharatiya Janata Party leader L.K. Advani has declared that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the chosen one by Lord Ram to build the long-awaited Ram Temple in Ayodhya. Speaking to Hindi magazine Rashtra Dharma, Advani reflected on the pivotal “Ram Rath Yatra” of 1990, describing it as a transformative event that shaped his political journey.

Advani, often hailed as the charioteer of the Rath Yatra, expressed that the faith in Lord Ram, with which the journey began, unexpectedly evolved into a nationwide movement. Recalling the historic event, he highlighted the divine connection, stating, “Lord Ram himself had chosen Mr. Modi, his devoted disciple, to build his Temple in Ayodhya.”

During the yatra, Prime Minister Modi served as Advani’s assistant, a role that was integral to the political landscape yet didn’t make Modi a household name at the time. Advani, now 96 years old, emphasized that destiny had signaled the eventual construction of a grand temple in Ayodhya during the Rath Yatra, and he believes “now it’s only a matter of time.”

In the article titled “Ram Mandir Nirman, Ek Divya Swapna Ki Purti” (The Construction of Ram Temple: Fulfillment of a Divine Dream), Advani paid tribute to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, expressing that Vajpayee’s absence is felt deeply at this momentous juncture.

Advani also shared his vision for the upcoming consecration ceremony, where PM Modi is expected to consecrate the Ram Lalla idol. He believes that when this happens, the Prime Minister will represent every citizen of India, expressing a hope that the Ram Temple inspires all Indians to embody the qualities of Lord Ram.

The article is set to be published in the January 16 edition of Rashtra Dharma, with copies to be distributed to attendees of the consecration ceremony in Ayodhya. While there is speculation about Advani’s attendance, no official confirmation has been provided by his close associates at this point.

New Delhi: In a monumental leap for India’s infrastructure, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Sewri-Nhava Sheva Atal Setu today. The Mumbai Trans Harbour Link, dubbed the Atal Setu, stands as the nation’s longest sea bridge, connecting Sewri in Mumbai to the Nhava Sheva area in Raigad district at a cost of ₹17,840 crore.

This historic project, initiated with the laying of its foundation stone by PM Modi in December 2016, pays tribute to the late former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. The Atal Setu spans an impressive 21.8 kilometers, promising to revolutionize travel between the two locations by reducing the journey time from two hours to a mere 15-20 minutes.

Metropolitan Commissioner of MMRDA, Dr. Sanjay Mukherjee, highlighted the technological marvel of the Atal Setu, stating, “This is India’s longest bridge built on the sea, employing cutting-edge technologies never before seen in the country. Notably, the lights used in this bridge are designed to preserve the aquatic environment.”

What’s Allowed:

Four-wheelers, including cars, taxis, light motor vehicles, minibuses, and two-axle buses, will have a maximum speed limit of 100 kmph.

Speed restrictions of 40 kmph will be implemented during the ascent and descent of the bridge.

What’s Not Allowed:

Motorbikes, auto rickshaws, and tractors are restricted from accessing the sea bridge.

Vehicles such as motorcycles, mopeds, three-wheelers, animal-drawn vehicles, and slow-moving vehicles are prohibited.

Multi-axle heavy vehicles, trucks, and buses heading towards Mumbai will not have entry access on the Eastern Freeway.

As the Atal Setu opens its lanes, it symbolizes not just a bridge over the Arabian Sea but also a bridge into a more connected and efficient future for Mumbai and Raigad district. This architectural marvel marks a significant milestone in India’s relentless pursuit of infrastructural excellence.
