Stay Up to Date: Rajya Sabha Discusses Jan Vishwas (Amendment of Provisions) Bill, 2023 During Monsoon Session

The Rajya Sabha on Wednesday passed the Mines and Minerals( Development and Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2023, and the timber( Conservation) Correction Bill, 2023, in the absence of Opposition after members of the Indian National Developmental, Inclusive Alliance( INDIA) bloc walked out of the Upper House. INDIA MPs offered a strike after Deputy Chairman Harivansh Narayan Singh denied them an occasion to address in the House, violent incidents passing in the country.

Before in the day, Congress principal Mallikarjun Kharge- led group of Opposition leaders met President Droupadi Murmu to seek her intervention on the Manipur issue, while Parliament got off to a rocky launch with the Opposition reiterating its demand for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s statement on Manipur.

On the other hand, the Lower House slightly conducted any proceedings and was suspended for shortly after reconvening at2.00p.m.

Proceedings on August 1 also saw members of the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) walk out of the Upper House after demands to bandy the Manipur issue at length with the PM present, went unheeded by Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar. While dislocations persisted in both Houses, several Bills were passed, including the Agreement Bill, 2021 and Biological Diversity Amendment Bill, 2023, in the Rajya Sabha and the Registration of Births and Deaths (Correction) Bill, 2023, in the Lok Sabha. Meanwhile, the no- confidence stir against the government admitted in the Lok Sabha last week is set to be bandied between August 8 and 10
